Show only the cheapest or most expensive shipping method

Use ShipWith to show the cheapest Shopify shipping rate or the highest-cost eligible method currently visible at checkout. ShipWith compares existing prices. It does not change any price, create a rate, or create or apply a shipping discount.

Set up the action

1. Create a shipping rule or open the rule you want to edit.
2. Under When the rule runs, choose whether the rule runs Always or only When set conditions are met.
3. Under Actions, choose one of these actions:
   • Show only the cheapest rate keeps the visible eligible methods with the lowest cost.
   • Show only the highest rate keeps the visible eligible methods with the highest cost.
4. Put this action in the order you want it to run. Actions run from top to bottom.
5. In Status, select Live.
6. Select Save.
7. Under Shopify sync, wait for Status to become Synced before testing. If synchronization fails, select Retry sync.

How ShipWith chooses methods

Shopify can split a cart into multiple delivery groups. A delivery group is a set of cart lines that Shopify ships together to one destination and presents one set of delivery options for. ShipWith makes a separate cost comparison in each delivery group. It does not find one cheapest or most expensive method for the whole cart.

Within each delivery group, the action compares the eligible methods that are still visible when the action runs. It keeps every eligible method tied at the selected cost and hides the other eligible methods. Methods that are not eligible for the rule are not part of the comparison and are not hidden by this action.

For example, if the eligible visible methods cost $5, $5, and $12, Show only the cheapest rate keeps both $5 methods. Show only the highest rate keeps the $12 method.

How conditions and order affect the result

Earlier actions in the same rule and earlier rules can hide methods before the cost comparison. Available-shipping-method conditions can also narrow which methods are eligible. The cost action compares only the candidates left by those earlier changes and conditions.

Later actions and rules can still affect the result. For example, a later action can hide, rename, or move the methods that remain. Ignore previous rules can restore methods hidden by the cost action. Lower Priority numbers run first, but this order is guaranteed only for active rules that use the same Function input. Do not rely on priority to control rules that use different Function inputs, because Shopify does not guarantee their order.

Test the rule at checkout

1. Add products to the cart and enter checkout details that make the rule run.
2. Continue to the checkout step that shows delivery options.
3. Confirm that each delivery group keeps only the expected cheapest or highest-cost eligible methods.
4. Test a tie and confirm that every eligible method at the selected cost remains visible.
5. Test a checkout with multiple delivery groups and confirm that ShipWith chooses the result independently in each group.

Also test a checkout that does not meet the rule's conditions. The cost action should not change that checkout. If the result is unexpected, review earlier and later actions, rule priorities, available-shipping-method conditions, and the Shopify sync status. After each change, select Save, wait for Synced, and test again.
