You can move your BlockCart checkout and payment rules between stores using a JSON file. Export the rules from one store, then import the file into the other store and review the new rules before turning them on.

Before you start

You need an active BlockCart subscription on the store where you import rules. You can export rules from a store that can open BlockCart without an active subscription.

Export rules from the first store

1. Open BlockCart's home page in the store that has the rules.
2. In Rules, select Export rules.
3. Save the downloaded file, named blockcart-rules-YYYY-MM-DD.json.

The file includes all saved checkout and payment rules in that store, with no export rule limit. If the store has no rules, BlockCart shows Rules were not exported instead of downloading a file.

Import rules into the other store

1. Open BlockCart's home page in the destination store.
2. In Rules, select Import rules. If the store has no rules, select Import rules in the empty state instead.
3. In the panel, choose your exported file under Rules JSON file.
4. Select Import file. A Rules imported banner confirms the import.
5. Review each imported rule in Rules, then set the ones you want to use to Live. You can pick Test first to try them with a tagged account.

Select Cancel to close the panel without importing. The panel's Imported rules are inactive banner reminds you that imported rules start Off and do not affect Shopify checkout until you turn them on.

Example

Suppose you export a store's minimum order checkout rule and import it into another store. It appears there as a copy that is Off with its rule details ready for review:

Good to know

• Import a BlockCart rules JSON file up to 1 MB with at most 100 rules. An export can contain more than 100 rules, but you cannot import that file as one batch.
• Older BlockCart checkout rule and payment rule export files also work.
• BlockCart checks every rule before importing. If one rule is invalid, Rules were not imported appears and none of the rules in the file are added.
• Products, collections, companies and company locations you picked with a picker point to items in the store you exported from. When you import into a different store, open each rule and pick them again before you turn it on. Text values such as tags, SKUs, ZIP codes and country codes carry over as they are.
• Imported rules are new saved rules. They start Off and are not synced to Shopify. See Activate or deactivate a rule when you are ready to turn them on.
