You can keep a named invoice or bank transfer payment method available for B2B buyers and hide it from other customers in Shopify checkout. If you offer Shopify payment terms, set those up in Shopify first; BlockCart controls payment method visibility, not when an order is due.

Before you start

You need an active BlockCart subscription and Shopify B2B companies. Set up the payment method you want to restrict in Shopify, and check its name in checkout. Keep another payment method available for customers who are not buying for a company.

Shopify net terms belong to a company or company location. They are not a payment method that BlockCart can create or hide. If your “pay by invoice” option is a named manual payment method, you can target that method with this rule. Shopify might not show manual payment methods at the initial checkout for orders that have payment terms and will be paid later. See Shopify's B2B payment terms and B2B payment methods.

Hide a payment method from non-B2B buyers

  1. On the BlockCart home page, select Create new rule, then Payment customization.
  2. Enter a Rule name. Set Rule input to Buyer Delivery. This choice is locked after you create the rule.
  3. Under Eligibility, select Only when conditions match. Under Conditions, choose B2B purchase and the operator is false. This matches a checkout without a purchasing company, including a guest checkout.
  4. Under Actions, select Hide. Set Match operator to Exact. In Payment method targets, replace the placeholder with the method's original checkout name, such as “Bank transfer,” and press Enter. Add another target if you need to hide a separate invoice method.
  5. Under Status, select Live, then Save. On the home page, confirm the rule shows Synced. Test a purchase for a company and one without a purchasing company.

Good to know

  • B2B purchase checks whether this purchase has a purchasing company. A customer account alone does not make the purchase B2B. To target a particular company or location instead, use Purchasing company or Purchasing company location in Buyer Delivery.
  • For the opposite rule, use B2B purchase is true with Show Only to leave only the named methods for B2B buyers. That action hides other methods from those buyers, so check that they still have a suitable way to pay.
  • BlockCart matches the payment method name Shopify originally supplied. It cannot make an unavailable method appear, assign net terms, or send an invoice. Configure Shopify payment terms and invoicing in Shopify.
