You can use a payment rule to hide a payment method in Shopify checkout. This guide shows you how to create the rule, turn it on, and check the result.

Before you start

You need an active BlockCart subscription to save a rule. Choose a payment method that is already available in your store, and keep another method available so customers can still pay.

Create the rule

  1. On the BlockCart home page, select Create new rule. In the dialog, select Payment customization.
  2. In Rule name, enter a name you will recognize, such as “Hide cash on delivery.” Customers do not see this name.
  3. Leave Rule input set to Cart. Under Eligibility, leave Always selected. This example hides the method whenever it would otherwise appear. For a rule that applies only to some orders, select Only when conditions match and add conditions.
  4. Under Actions, leave Action 1 set to Hide and Match operator set to Exact. Remove the placeholder Payment method target. In Payment method targets, enter the payment method's name as it appears in checkout, then press Enter.
  5. Under Status, select Live, then select Save. To try it with only your own account first, select Test instead. See Test your rules safely before customers see them.

Check it in Shopify checkout

Return to the BlockCart home page and find your rule in Rules. Check that it shows Live and Synced. Then open your store's Shopify checkout with an order where that payment method would normally appear. At the payment step, the named method should be absent.

If the rule shows Failed or the method still appears, see My payment method is still showing.

Example

| Rule input | Conditions | Payment action | | ---------- | ---------- | ---------------------------------------------- | | Cart | Always | Hide “Cash on Delivery” using Exact match. |

Good to know

  • Rule input is locked after you create the rule. Choose it before saving if you plan to add conditions later.
  • Exact matches the original payment method name, ignoring capitalization and spaces at either end. Use the name shown in Shopify checkout.
  • Saving a rule does not guarantee it reached Shopify. Check the Synced status before testing. If a sync fails, the payment change may not appear in checkout.
