Use Shopify payment customization in BlockCart to control which payment methods customers see and how they appear in Shopify checkout. You can hide, show, reorder, or rename methods for customers who meet your rule's conditions.
Before you start
You need an active BlockCart subscription to create, save, activate, or sync payment rules. Without one, you can inspect saved rules, but their payment changes will not run in Shopify checkout.
What can a payment rule change?
| Change | What customers see | | -------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Hide selected methods | A named method disappears when the rule matches. | | Show only selected methods | Only the chosen methods stay visible. | | Reorder methods | A method moves to the top, bottom, or a chosen position. You can also set a preferred order. | | Rename a method | One method gets a different checkout label. |
You can also hide all methods or reset earlier changes within the same Rule input. Hiding all methods can prevent checkout completion. Shopify may decline rename or move requests for some wallet and logo-based methods. See Payment actions: hide, show only, reorder, rename, reset.

Common uses
| If you want to… | Read | | --------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------- | | Hide cash on delivery when an order exceeds a value you choose. | Hide cash on delivery above a set order value | | Show a chosen set of methods to company buyers. | Show certain payment methods only to B2B customers | | Hide a method for a destination or selected shipping method. | Hide payment methods by country or shipping method | | Put a preferred method first or give a method a clearer name. | Reorder or rename payment methods at checkout |
For an amount condition, enter the amount in your store currency. At checkout, BlockCart converts it with Shopify's exchange rate and compares it with the cart in the customer's currency. Checkout rules work differently: they compare the number without converting it.
When does a payment rule run?
Choose Always to apply its actions whenever it runs, or Only when conditions match to limit them. Conditions can check cart details, products, customers, or delivery details. The Rule input choices shown in the payment editor are Cart, Merchandise, and Buyer Delivery. Each choice provides different conditions, and Rule input is locked after you create the rule. See Profiles explained: Cart, Merchandise, Buyer and delivery for the available checks.
Payment rules change payment choices without showing a validation error. To reject an order and explain why, use a checkout rule. See Checkout rules vs payment rules: which one do you need?.
How rules work together
Rules in Test or Live with the same Rule input run in priority order and combine into one Shopify payment customization. Later actions can change earlier results; reset starts again from the original methods. See Rule priority and how actions stack.
Rules with different Rule input choices run separately. Shopify does not guarantee which input runs first. BlockCart checks for overlapping actions that could conflict across inputs and refuses to sync a conflicting payment customization. A saved rule can remain in BlockCart with a failed sync status, so check its status before relying on it. See Fix payment rule conflicts between profiles.
