You can edit Shopify payment methods in checkout with BlockCart: choose which methods appear, change their order, or give one a new name. Add actions under Actions in a payment rule. They run in the order shown when the rule matches.
What each action does
| Action in the editor | What it does | Example | | ------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Hide | Hides methods that match your targets. | Hide “Cash on Delivery.” | | Hide All | Hides every payment method. | Remove all payment choices for a matching order. | | Show Only | Shows matching methods and hides the others. If none match, it leaves the current choices as they are. | Show only “Bank transfer.” | | Move To Top | Moves matching methods to the start of the list. | Put “Bank transfer” first. | | Move To Bottom | Moves matching methods to the end of the list. | Put “Cash on Delivery” last. | | Move To Position | Moves the first matching method to the numbered Position. Positions start at 1. | Put “Bank transfer” in position 2. | | Preferred Order | Moves matching methods to the top in the order listed under Targets in preferred order. | List “Bank transfer,” then “Cash on Delivery” to place them first and second. | | Rename | Gives the first matching method the label entered in New name. | Rename “Cash on Delivery” to “Pay on delivery.” | | Reset Previous Rules | Undoes earlier actions and rules by restoring the original visibility, names, and order. Later actions still apply. | Undo earlier changes before applying a new Hide action. |

How payment method targets match
For actions that target methods, select a Match operator and enter a name under Payment method targets. Preferred Order uses Targets in preferred order instead. You can enter aliases separated by commas, then press Enter. Aliases help when the same method has different names in different languages. Matching ignores capitalization and spaces at the start or end of a name.
| Match operator | Matches an original payment method name when it… | | -------------------- | ------------------------------------------------ | | Exact | Equals an alias. | | Contains | Includes an alias anywhere. | | Starts With | Begins with an alias. | | Ends With | Ends with an alias. | | Does Not Contain | Contains none of the aliases. | | Does Not Equal | Equals none of the aliases. |
Positive operators match if any alias matches. The two Does Not operators require every alias to pass, so they can select many methods. BlockCart always checks the name Shopify originally supplied. If you rename “Cash on Delivery” to “Pay on delivery,” a later Hide action should still target “Cash on Delivery.”
Good to know
- Hide All can leave customers with no way to pay and prevent checkout completion. Check your rule's conditions before setting it to Live. Try it in Test first.
- Reset Previous Rules affects actions within the same Rule input. Actions after the reset still run. See Rule priority and how actions stack for how rules combine.
- Shopify can reject move or rename requests for wallet and logo-based methods. BlockCart can save the rule, but Shopify may leave those methods unchanged.
