If a payment method is still showing in Shopify checkout, work through this checklist to find why your payment rule has not hidden it. Test with a checkout where that method would normally be available.

Troubleshooting checklist

  1. Check the rule is Live and Synced. On the BlockCart home page, find the rule in Rules. Its status should be Live and its Sync column should say Synced. If it shows Test, only signed-in customers tagged blockcart-test see the change. If it says Failed, select the row's Sync action and read the Payment rules were not synced error. A saved rule may not have reached Shopify. See Understand sync status and retry a failed sync.

  2. Check the original payment method name. Under Actions, check Payment method targets and Match operator. Exact must match the name Shopify originally supplied, ignoring capitalization and spaces at either end. A later Rename does not change the name used for matching. If the method has different names in other languages, add aliases separated by commas. You can use Contains for a suitable part of the name. See Payment actions: hide, show only, reorder, rename, reset.

  3. Check whether the conditions match your test order. Always runs without conditions. Only when conditions match needs a matching condition group. For a country or shipping method rule, use Buyer Delivery and check the address and selected delivery option in your test checkout. Any one delivery group and Every delivery group give different results when an order has multiple deliveries; missing customer or delivery details can also prevent a match. If you use an amount condition, enter the threshold in your store currency; BlockCart converts it for the customer's checkout currency. See Profiles explained: Cart, Merchandise, Buyer and delivery and Hide payment methods by country or shipping method.

  4. Check later actions and priority. Within the same Rule input, lower Priority numbers run first. A later Reset Previous Rules restores a method hidden earlier. A later Show Only can also make a previously hidden target visible if that target matches its list. Review all rules in Test or Live under that Rule input and their action order. See Rule priority and how actions stack.

  5. Check for a conflict between Rule inputs. Rules under Cart, Merchandise, and Buyer Delivery can affect the same methods. Some overlapping actions cause a Blocking cross-profile conflict sync error. The rule still saves, but Shopify does not receive that input's updated payment change. Resolve the overlap, then sync the affected inputs. See Fix payment rule conflicts between profiles.

  6. Check your subscription. If your BlockCart subscription is no longer active, saved rules remain in the app but their Shopify payment customizations are removed. Restore your subscription and check the sync status again. See What happens to your rules when you cancel or billing stops.

  7. Check Shopify's method restrictions. If you are trying to move or rename a wallet or logo-based method, Shopify may leave it unchanged even when the rule is saved. Test the result at the payment step. See Payment actions: hide, show only, reorder, rename, reset.

  8. Check the active payment customization limit. If Sync reports that the store has reached Shopify's limit of 25 active payment customizations, set every rule under an unneeded Rule input to Off, then sync again. See "Sync failed": what it means and how to fix it.
