You can hide Shopify cash on delivery above an order value you choose. This payment rule removes COD from Shopify checkout when a customer's cart exceeds your limit, while leaving it available for smaller orders.
Before you start
You need an active BlockCart subscription to save the rule. Check the COD payment method's name in your Shopify checkout before setting the target. Your store should have another payment method available for orders above the limit.
Set a COD order limit
- On the BlockCart home page, select Create new rule, then choose Payment customization in the dialog.
- Enter a Rule name, such as “Hide COD above $500.” Leave Rule input set to Cart.
- Under Eligibility, select Only when conditions match. In Conditions, choose Cart total, is greater than, and enter
500under Amount. Cart total measures what the customer pays; it can include taxes and shipping. Choose Cart subtotal instead if you want the limit based on the amount before taxes and order-level discounts. - Under Actions, keep Action 1 set to Hide. Set Match operator to Contains. Remove the placeholder Payment method target. In Payment method targets, enter
cash on deliveryand press Enter. This matches a checkout name such as “Cash on Delivery (COD).” - Select Live under Status, then select Save. On the home page, check that the rule shows Live and Synced. To try it first, pick Test and check out with a tagged account. Test Shopify checkout with carts on both sides of the limit.

Example
This rule hides COD when the cart total is above $500. A cart total of exactly $500 does not match is greater than.
| Rule input | Conditions | Payment action | | ---------- | -------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Cart | Cart total is greater than 500 | Hide methods whose original name Contains “cash on delivery” |
Good to know
- The amount field shows your store currency. At checkout, BlockCart converts that threshold using Shopify's presentment currency rate, then compares it with the cart amount in the customer's checkout currency. This is different from checkout rules, which compare amounts without converting them.
- Contains ignores capitalization. If the COD method has another name in a different language, add that name as another alias under Payment method targets. Use the name customers actually see in Shopify checkout.
- Rule input is locked after creation. A Shopify cash on delivery fee is separate from this rule; the rule only controls whether the payment method appears.
