If Save is disabled in a checkout or payment rule, use this checklist. If you can click Save but the rule does not save, check the errors below.

Check why Save is disabled

  1. Look for the billing banner. Without an active BlockCart subscription, you can open the rule editor but cannot create or save a rule. This includes development stores without an active subscription and stores whose subscription is missing. The banner says Subscribe to a premium plan. On a new rule, it says “In order to create a new rule, you need to subscribe to a premium plan.” On an existing rule, it says “In order to save this rule, you need to subscribe to a premium plan.” Select Go to billing to choose a plan. See Plans and pricing: monthly vs yearly and Development stores: what works and what doesn't.
  2. Wait for the current save to finish. While either editor is submitting a save, Save shows a loading state and is disabled. In the checkout rule editor, Save is also disabled while that rule is being deleted. Wait for the action to finish before trying again.

If Save works but returns an error

Field validation does not disable Save before you click it. In a checkout rule, fix the message shown on the form: enter a rule name and Error message, choose a valid Target placement, and select at least one checkout step. For “Choose at least one checkout step,” see Choose when a rule runs: checkout, cart interaction, add to cart. A rule in Test or Live can also reject a condition that its Rule input does not support; see A condition isn't available for my rule type.

In a payment rule, the Fix the highlighted rule fields banner lists problems after you click Save. Correct the listed name, condition, action, or priority and save again. For checkout message guidance, see Write a clear error message for customers.
