Why are no shipping methods showing at checkout?
If no shipping methods are available in Shopify checkout, first determine whether Shopify supplied no methods or ShipWith hid the supplied methods.
ShipWith can only hide or change shipping methods that Shopify or a shipping-rate provider already supplies. It cannot create a rate or make a missing method available.
Restore checkout safely
If customers currently have no shipping methods:
- Open the rule most likely to hide the methods.
- Set Status to Off.
- Select Save.
- Under Shopify sync, wait for Status to become Synced.
- Repeat the same checkout test and check every delivery group.
If methods return, an active ShipWith rule was hiding them. Keep the suspect rule inactive while you narrow its conditions and targets. If no methods return, check the Shopify or shipping-provider setup because ShipWith cannot restore a method that was never supplied.
Check actions that can hide every method
Review all active rules, not only the last rule that you edited.
- Hide all delivery methods hides every eligible method when the rule applies.
- Show only specific delivery method(s) hides all eligible methods when none of the supplied titles or handles match its values. Confirm that at least one value matches a method in each delivery group. See Show only selected shipping methods for its no-match behavior and testing steps.
- A broad partial target can match more methods than intended. Matching is case-insensitive and checks any part of the title or handle. For example, a short value can match several carrier services. Replace it with the narrowest useful title or handle value.
- Several active rules can overlap. One rule might leave a method visible and another rule might hide it later.
After each change, select Save, wait for Synced, and test again.
Check conditions and method filtering
Confirm that the checkout matches the rule exactly. Conditions in one group use AND, while separate groups use OR.
A Shipping method condition also filters which methods are eligible for the rule. It checks method titles, not handles. An action target then narrows that eligible set again. Review both the condition and the action target; together they can produce a different result than either setting alone. See Match shipping methods by name or handle for the difference between condition and action matching.
Shopify evaluates shipping methods in separate delivery groups. A title can match in one group and have no match in another. Show only specific delivery method(s) can therefore preserve a method in one group while hiding every eligible method in another. Test every group in the checkout.
Check priority and action order
Within one rule, actions run from top to bottom. Among active rules using the same Function input, lower Priority numbers run first. A hide action can remove a method before a later action compares, renames, or reorders the remaining methods.
Do not rely on priority to order rules that use different Function inputs. Shopify does not guarantee their execution order. If rules depend on one another, use the same Function input and give them distinct priorities.
Review Ignore previous rules carefully. When it applies, it restores methods hidden by earlier ShipWith actions for that delivery group, then actions below it and later rules run. It does not restore methods hidden after the reset, and it cannot create a method that Shopify did not supply. Make sure the reset is after the effects that it should clear and before the exception actions that should run next.
See Understand rule priority and action order for the full ordering model.
Narrow the rule and test
- Leave the suspect rule Off until shipping methods are visible again.
- Replace broad title or handle targets with specific values.
- Narrow the rule's conditions so it applies only to the intended checkout cases and methods.
- Review overlapping active rules in priority order and each rule's actions from top to bottom.
- Set the corrected rule to Live, select Save, wait for Synced, and test matching and nonmatching checkouts in every delivery group.
Change one setting at a time. If methods disappear again, the most recent change identifies the rule, condition, target, or action sequence that is hiding them.
If methods are still missing with the rule inactive
ShipWith is not hiding the methods if the same checkout still has no options after the suspect rules are inactive and their changes are Synced. Check Shopify shipping zones and profiles, product fulfillment locations, destination eligibility, carrier or app-calculated rate availability, and provider errors. The Shopify or shipping-rate provider must supply at least one method before ShipWith can modify it.
