You can combine conditions to block checkout when several things are true, or when any one of several groups matches. Use AND within a group and OR between groups.

How groups work

Each condition in a group must match for that group to match. If you add another group, the rule runs when either group matches. The same error message applies whichever group matches.

Group 1: Condition A AND Condition B
OR
Group 2: Condition C AND Condition D

Before you start

You need an active BlockCart subscription to save a rule. Choose a Rule input that offers the conditions you need. You cannot change Rule input after creating the rule.

Add AND and OR conditions

  1. Open a checkout rule and set Eligibility to Only when conditions match.
  2. In Conditions, choose a field, operator, and value for the first condition.
  3. Select Add condition (AND) to add another condition to the same group. Both conditions must match.
  4. Select Add group (OR) to add an alternative set of conditions. Add more conditions to that group if needed.
  5. Write an Error message that makes sense for every group, set Status to Live, and select Save.

Example 1: Two conditions must match

This rule blocks a low-value order only when it is shipping to the US. An order shipping elsewhere, or one with a subtotal of 50 or more, does not match this group.

Example 2: Either group can match

This rule sets different quantity limits for orders shipping to the US and Canada. Either group can block checkout.

Good to know

  • You can add up to four groups, with up to four conditions in each group.
  • One matching group is enough. Conditions in other groups do not have to match.
  • A checkout rule shows one error message when it matches, even if more than one group matches.
