You can create a checkout rule, return to it when your requirements change, or delete it when you no longer need it.
Before you start
You need an active BlockCart subscription to create or save a checkout rule. Without one, Save is disabled and Delete is hidden on the rule page. You can still open a saved rule to review it.
Create a rule
- On the BlockCart home page, select Create new rule, then Cart and checkout validation in the dialog.
- Fill in the rule editor, then select Save in the page header. The saved rule appears in Rules on the home page. For the full setup, see Create your first checkout rule.

Edit a rule
- On the home page, find the checkout rule in Rules and select its edit icon.
- Change the rule name, eligibility, conditions, error message, or Status as needed. The current Rule input cannot be changed.
- Select Save in the page header. Saving a rule in Test or Live updates it in Shopify checkout right away. Saving it Off removes it from Shopify checkout but keeps the rule in BlockCart.
After saving, check Shopify sync on the rule page to confirm the change reached Shopify. If the sync failed, see Understand sync status and retry a failed sync.

Delete a rule
- Open the rule from Rules, then select Delete in the page header. You can also use its delete icon in the Rules table.
- Read the confirmation and select Delete. BlockCart removes the saved rule and any synced Shopify validation. This cannot be undone.

Good to know
- Rule input is locked after you create the rule. Choose it before your first save.
- A new rule starts Off unless you select Test or Live under Status. Check the status before you save if you expect the rule to run at Shopify checkout. Pick Test first to try it with a tagged account.
- If Shopify cannot remove a synced validation, BlockCart keeps the rule and shows an error instead of deleting it.
