Use customer conditions to check Shopify customer tags, login status, order history, spending, or email before an order goes through. Choose conditions that also handle guests the way you intend.

What can you check?

| Condition | What it checks | Available with | | ----------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | ---------------------------------------------------------- | | Customer tag | Whether the customer has any tag you enter, or has none of them. | All four rule inputs | | Customer is logged in | Whether the buyer is signed in. | Standard input, Shipping input, Customer input | | Customer is not logged in | Whether the buyer is a guest. | Standard input, Shipping input, Customer input | | Customer number of orders | The customer's previous order count against a number you enter. | Customer input | | Customer total spent | The amount spent on the customer's orders against a number you enter. | Standard input, Shipping input, Customer input | | Customer email | The email supplied at checkout, which can be present even when the buyer is not signed in. | Standard input, Shipping input, Customer input |

For Customer tag, enter tags separated by commas or new lines. Choose has any of to match at least one. Choose does not have any of to match a signed-in customer with none of those tags. Tag matching ignores letter case.

For order count and total spent, choose is greater than, is greater than or equal to, is less than, or is equal to. Customer email supports is, is not, contains, does not contain, and starts with. Email matching ignores letter case.

Plan for guest customers

A guest has no customer record for tag, order count, or total spent checks. Those conditions do not match a guest, including Customer tag → does not have any of and Customer number of orders → is equal to 0. An email condition can still match the address entered at checkout.

If you want to stop guests, use Customer is not logged in. To stop both guests and signed-in customers without a required tag, put Customer is not logged in in one condition group and Customer tag → does not have any of in another. Separate groups work as OR: either match can show your error. See Combine conditions with AND and OR groups for how groups work.

To require login at Shopify checkout, use Customer is not logged in to stop guests. See Only let tagged or logged-in customers buy certain products for a login-only rule. This checks whether the buyer is signed in to a Shopify customer account.
